Farm Story
Haraz is located in the highlands of northwestern Yemen, at elevations up to 2,400 meters above sea level, and is a cold region. The area around Harraz has rich volcanic soil. Generally speaking, Harraz coffee has raisiny, fruity acidity, smooth body, and chocolate-like after-flavor, and is famous as a region that produces some of the best coffees in Yemen. The main coffee cultivars in Haraz are the Jaadi and Dawairi Cultivar in the Ancient Typica Mother Population.
Ahmed Abdo Ahmed is a dedicated and hardworking farmer, earning the nickname "workaholic" among his fellow farmers. He devoted all his time to caring for his coffee plants on the farm, finding joy in his work even during his free time.
When asked about his hobbies, Ahmed mentioned that he enjoyed working—truly passionate about farming. Despite facing challenges like water scarcity, Ahmed manages his farm well, maintaining organic practices without artificial pesticides.
Ahmed's commitment to organic farming extended to teaching his 15-year-old child, who helped out on the farm after school. Their bond not only strengthens their family but also ensures the continuity of Ahmed's sustainable farming legacy.
Unfortunately, Ahmed passed away in his coffee farm after the harvest season in 2024 at the age of 47. His legacy is passed down to his 15 years old son.
